Every year, more foreigners choose Lithuania as their permanent place of residence. According to data from the Migration Department, on September 1, 2025, there were approximately 210,000 foreigners living in Lithuania. Almost 8,000 of them lived in the Vilnius district municipality.
When moving to a new country, people of foreign origin often face many challenges, one of which is the availability of important and relevant information in an understandable language in one place. Different institutions often publish information about their activities and current events only on their websites, so foreign residents of Lithuania who want to find the information they need about living in Lithuania must be well versed in the Lithuanian institutional system and the services it provides.
To solve the problem of fragmented information and ensure fast, reliable, and systematic access to the most important information, the Reception and Integration Agency (PIIA) has created a mobile application for foreign residents called "InfoDesk App". This application is intended for foreigners living in Lithuania, as well as persons accommodated in the Agency's temporary accommodation facilities. All users can use the app without registration.
The application has two main functions.
It provides up-to-date information on general issues related to living in Lithuania, such as residence permits, educational opportunities, health services, the labour market, language learning, and cultural integration.
Providing information to foreigners staying in PIIA temporary accommodation facilities – news, events, training, consultations, contacts, services provided, and other relevant information. It is also possible to send messages to all residents at the same time, e.g., if it is necessary to quickly inform them about a situation that has arisen or important events.
The app is adapted for people with disabilities and features a text-to-speech function that allows users to listen to content. Information is available in 20 languages.
"InfoDesk App" is available for Android and iOS operating systems and can be downloaded free of charge to your mobile device from the Google Play and Apple Store online stores.
