If you are looking for a job in Lithuania or want to get a job in a profession in demand, you can contact the Employment Service. The Employment Service offers advice on finding a job, getting a job, gaining a job, retraining and, if necessary, financial support to help you find a job, improve your skills or create a new job.                                                                                                  

When you register with the Employment Service, you must submit the following documents:

  • a valid identity document (ID card, passport);
  • proof of education, qualification;
  • a U2 document if you have been awarded unemployment benefits in another country and want to export them to Lithuania.

If you obtained your qualifications in another country, translations of the following documents into Lithuanian are required (the translation must be signed by the translator). Academic recognition of secondary and higher education acquired abroad is carried out by the Centre for Quality Assessment of Studies, while the Lithuanian Science Council carries out the evaluation of doctoral degrees acquired abroad.

As of January 2025, the unemployment rate was 8.8% in Vilnius District, 8.8% in Vilnius County and 9.0% in Lithuania.

The number of enterprises operating in Vilnius District is growing year by year. According to the data of the State Data Agency, on 1 January 2025. There were 4 905 businesses operating in Vilnius District.

At the beginning of 2025, of the total number of enterprises operating in Vilnius District Municipality, the largest number of enterprises were engaged in wholesale and retail trade (22.3%); construction (12.7%); professional, technical and scientific activities (12.5%); manufacturing (9.6%); and transport and storage activities (8.5%).
