People returning from abroad can apply for cash social assistance under the same conditions as others living in the municipality.
The following benefits are paid to families with children: a lump-sum child allowance; a child allowance; an allowance for the birth of more than one child at a time; an allowance for the child of a serviceman on compulsory initial military service; an allowance for the care of the child of a person in training or studying; a lump-sum allowance for a pregnant woman; a guardianship allowance; a targeted supplement to the guardianship allowance; a temporary care allowance; and a benefit after the adoption of a child. Social support for pupils: free school meals and help with school supplies. Social benefits and compensation for heating, hot water and drinking water are paid to underprivileged individuals/families, based on their income and assets. Lump-sum, targeted, conditional and periodic payments are made to individuals/families in a difficult financial situation. Targeted compensation for care/assistance or nursing costs is paid to persons of retirement age and disabled children with special needs.
