If you have completed a foreign country's primary, lower secondary or part of lower secondary education programme, you will be admitted to the general admission procedure. A child returning from abroad is integrated into the general education classes of Vilnius District schools according to his/her age and learns together with his/her classmates. If necessary, he or she is supported with an integration plan, an individual education plan, additional counselling or lessons.
Schooling is compulsory for children from the age of 7 (in the calendar year in which the child turns 7) to 16. A child may be admitted to primary education one year earlier if the child's parents/guardians have decided to enrol the child in pre-primary education earlier (when the child reaches the age of 5 in that calendar year).

To help returning children integrate better, there are two schools in Vilnius District that have experience in welcoming returning children: the Pagiriai Gymnasium in Vilnius District and the Eitminiškės Gymnasium in Vilnius District, both of which are founded by the Ministry of Education, Science and Sports.
